Went to CW today to convert my TR visa to a B. I had to extend my 30 days first which took about 90 mins then was overjoyed to find there was no queue in the 'non-imm' section.

Unfortunately I was told, for the first time in almost 10 years, that I need to get my Bachelor's degree certified by my embassy. Seems like the verification checks carried out by TCT for the licence don't meet their standards...

I'm a bit confused about the process but I think it goes like this...

Get degree certified at British Embassy (B1,150)

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/thailand-consular-fees/thailand-consular-fees

Then have to take to Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get legalized? (B460)

http://www.consular.go.th/main/th/services/1303/24762-Procedure-of-Document-Authentication-by-Mail.html

Anyone have any experience? This is really getting too much...

The US Embassy does not verify documents.

I don't foresee many WP in my future, but I wonder what would be expected of me in the way of verification.

I have a copy of my diploma which my sister notarized in California.  I suppose I could have it legalized by the same folks at CW who did our marriage certificate for ROK & PRC.

I have some "super diplomas" blessed by the State Dept., but they involved an apostille, and last time I looked Thailand doesn't recognize an apostille.

I THINK the consular office of the US embassy will still let you swear an affidavit of authenticity.

That will suffice at the MFA office.

You only need the "authentication" if you are doing a "change of status" within Thailand.

If you are going out to a Thai embassy / consulate then you do NOT need to have your degree authenticated (yet). Just have the original along with the bundle of copies and other school paperwork.
